Royal Wedding 2011: Official Website Launches

The official website for the Royal Wedding 2011 – the marriage of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton – has officially launched on the morning of Wednesday 2nd March 2011.
The website features news and information about the wedding, which takes place on Friday 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, London, UK.
The wedding will join a couple who are to be King and Queen of the United Kingdom in the future. A national holiday has already been declared to mark their wedding day.
The website launch coincides with the launch of an official Government website devoted to the union, and adds to the growing number of new media ventures the British Royal Family have launched in the past year or so, which includes a variety of official websites, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Royal Wedding Parties Set To Sweep Nation

The great British tradition of street parties seems to have been re-invigorated to mark the forthcoming royal wedding.

At least 2,000 applications for road closures have been received by councils throughout Britain, showing that even in the digital age, street parties have a place.
Chris White from the Local Government Association told Sky News: "I think people feel that they need a bit of fun it's been a long cold winter, we've got some celebrations coming up and I suspect there will be many, many more people applying to hold a street party before the end of April."
So far the highest number of applications has come from the capital, with 70 parties planned. Cardiff is next, followed by Bristol and Coventry.

Clare Green is one of those determined to hold a street party to mark the Royal wedding.
She has already asked Coventry City Council for permission to close part of her road, and believes it is important to maintain the tradition.
"I'm really passionate about my children growing up in a community environment, this is the next best thing really, and I think it's important when they're older they can look back and say they celebrated the Prince getting married," she said.
Planning the perfect party has not been straightforward though, Coventry City council initially imposed all kinds of restrictions, banning music, entertainment and bouncy castles, although a local backlash forced a speedy change of policy.

There is still time for people to apply for permission to hold their own street parties, and while they may not be as widespread as they were to mark the Silver Jubilee or the marriage of Prince William's mother and father, they seem to have an enduring appeal.
The only problem, as always, could be the British weather, particularly as the wedding is taking place during a month which is famous for its 'April showers'.

Wedding Dresses Shops | Costco to sell designer wedding dresses at 40 per cent off

We can't see Kate Middleton shopping for her wedding dress at Costco, but for brides without a royal wedding budget, it could prove a thrifty way to get your hands on a designer gown.
The cash-and-carry has joined forces with top bridal designer Kirstie Kelly to sell six exclusive dresses at around 40 per cent of their usual retail price.
The handmade gowns are being showcased in a series of four-day trunk shows in one-off events around the country.

And though they are not cheap (they range in price from $699 to $1,399), they are far less expensive than the designer's mainline collection. which can cost up to $4,000 for a bespoke creation.

The designer has even employed a democratic sizing policy, with dresses ranging from U.S. Size 2 up to Size 24.
She explained: 'Kirstie Kelly Signature is designed to ensure each bride looks and feels radiant in a dress that complements her natural beauty.

The Signature line looks gorgeous on any bride and gives her the look and feel of splurging on the dress of her dreams, without the overwhelming cost or guilt.'

Despite the budget outlet and discounted price, Kelly has not compromised on quality. The dresses, which come in luxury fabrics like organza, satin and taffeta are embellished with Alencon lace, crystal and pearls. Veils are also available, to help complete the look.
Brides-to-be can either book an appointment or walk in to the temporary Costco concessions during the events, which are advertised on the company website.
Consultants will be on-hand to advise and answer any style questions, and the dresses can be taken home the same day - though, the designer added, they are likely to want to get it tailored to ensure the best possible fit.
Thankfully Costco is not requiring shoppers to buy in bulk in this instance.
The collaboration with Kirstie Kelly is one of a number of retailers attempting to cash in on an emerging market for cheaper wedding dresses that don't compromise on quality or style.

Last year J Crew opened a bridal boutique on New York's Madison Avenue.
The price points are a far cry from high-end designer gowns by the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang, which can cost in the region of $10,000.
